Reliving History

For the first time in Maccabiah history, the iconic Maccabiah Torch embarked on a unique nationwide journey, connecting dozens of local communities across Israel as a powerful symbol of unity, resilience, pride, and hope.

Inspired by the historic 1931 motorcycle journey, during which Maccabiah emissaries traveled across Europe to invite Jewish communities to take part in the very first Maccabiah Games, this modern-day torch relay carried that same spirit of connection and purpose into a new generation.

Along the road, mayors and local leaders were presented with a special Medal of Honor and invited to attend the Maccabiah Opening Ceremony in Jerusalem as guests of honor.

Each stop along the route featured a torch-raising ceremony led by a community representative who embodies the values at the heart of the Maccabiah - excellence, solidarity, Zionism, and mutual responsibility - values that have united and inspired the Jewish world from then until today, more than ever.
