One Gift Makes a World of Difference

By investing in Maccabi World Union (MWU), you are fostering a powerful sense of unity and connection between Jews globally. Using the transformative power of sports, education, and leadership, MWU deepens a sense of belonging to and care for Amiyut Yehudit, Jewish peoplehood.

Below are examples of MWU’s investment in each of our three work areas

Sports

Education

Leadership

Maccabiah

MWU’s flagship event, the Maccabiah Games, held every four years in Israel, is the world's largest international Jewish sporting event. It gathers thousands of Jewish athletes from Israel and the Diaspora for a three-week experience of camaraderie, athleticism, and education, successfully bringing them closer to their Jewish heritage, one another, and the Land of Israel.

Israel Programs (Yachad)

Maccabi World Union brings over 1,500 participants to Israel every year for an array of short and long-term educational and experiential programs. Through our Yachad division, we develop meaningful recreational, educational, and affordable programs for Jewish teenagers, young adults, young professionals, and adults from all over the world.

MWU Women’s Forum

The MWU Women's Forum was founded to advocate globally for issues pertinent to women and their perspectives, advance women's leadership, and enhance their representation in pivotal roles within the movement.

Regional Games

Alongside the Maccabiah, MWU organizes regional Maccabi Games such as the Pan American Maccabi Games and the European Maccabi Games. Each Game has an educational program rich in Jewish content, which impacts the participants more than the sports.

Iris Smith World Jewish Sports Museum

The museum presents the history and the heritage of Jewish sports through over 1000 rare items, videos, and interactive exhibits.

The museum feathers different temporary exhibits, such as UNBROKEN: Israeli Sports at Times of War.

Future Leaders Forum

Maccabi Future Leaders Forum (FLF) is a personalized ongoing leadership program for young Jewish professionals passionate about their community. FLF is based on 3-4 seminars per year that provide continuous professional training through the use of high-level keynote speakers and carefully planned workshops.

Israel Sports Experience

The Maccabi Israel Sports Experience is a unique gap year program in which participants experience being a professional sports player in Israel. Currently, we offer Jewish athletes from around the world the opportunity to play semi-professional basketball and help set up long-term sports opportunities.

Maccabi Tzair

Maccabi Tzair (Young Maccabi) is Maccabi’s youth movement with branches in Israel, the U.S., Central America, and South America. It promotes Jewish heritage, Zionist values, social responsibility, and personal development among its members and places a strong emphasis on sports and physical education to connect young Jews worldwide.

Shlichut Program

MWU's Shlichut program connects Jewish communities across North America with Israel and the Maccabi movement through the work of eight dedicated emissaries. Our Shlichim fosters a vibrant Jewish experience, Setting local, regional, or continental agendas, including projects for volunteer leadership, professionals, educators, and activists.

Your gift will:

  • Help a Jewish athlete travel to Israel to join thousands of other athletes from around the world to compete internationally in Maccabiah.
  • Empower an Israeli woman to make a change in her community with the knowledge and skills she has gained from participating in the Women’s Forum.
  • Inspire a new generation of Zionists, having been engaged by a Maccabi Shaliach (emissary) in a Diaspora country.
