Amid the complex realities and security challenges in Israel and across Jewish communities worldwide, the preparations for the Maccabiah 2026 continue as planned – both in Israel and abroad.

During the recent Heads of Delegation Zoom meeting, MWU & Maccabiah CEO Roy Hessing emphasized that registration numbers remain stable, reflecting strong commitment and confidence from communities around the world. "We receive daily inquiries from athletes who express their desire to come to Israel despite the war. They share their support and commitment, which gives us the strength to continue our work", he said.

In addditon, the deadline for submitting the EF3 has been extended to April 15, allowing more athletes the opportunity to take part in the upcoming Maccabiah.

According to Maccabiah Chairman Assaf Goren, possible adjustments to the Games' structure are being considered in light of the current situation. "We are advancing the necessary preparations with responsibility, caution, and close attention to developments, to ensure that the Maccabiah will be a meaningful, well-organized, and unifying event for all delegations and participants", he said. "Following the Passover holiday, we will reassess - in light of developments - the format, scope, and any necessary adjustments to the Maccabiah".

Despite this challenging time for Jewish communities worldwide, our Maccabi spirit of unity, resilience, and hope is essential - now more than ever. We look forward to the upcoming Maccabiah as a meaningful moment of connection, pride, and joy for all of us.
