Day of Hope with KKL-JNF
Community, remembrance, and resilience in Southern Israel

This year, more than ever, the Maccabiah, in partnership with KKL-JNF (Jewish National Fund), stood alongside the communities of Southern Israel.
On July 9, thousands of Maccabiah participants from around the world came together with local residents, families of reserve soldiers, Maccabi Tzair members, and KKL-JNF guests for a powerful day of connection, resilience, and hope.
The day began with a deeply moving visit to the Nova Festival Memorial Site, where participants heard personal testimonies and attended lectures dedicated to honoring those who lost their lives in the October 7 attacks.
From remembrance, the experience shifted toward action, with a wide variety of volunteer activities, hands-on workshops and inspiring community encounters. A special volunteer program, held in partnership with The Jewish Agency for Israel, gave participants the opportunity to work alongside local residents and become part of the region's ongoing renewal. More than simply lending a helping hand, these experiences offered a unique opportunity to support the communities of the Gaza Envelope while creating meaningful connections that will last long after the Games.
The day concluded on a joyful and optimistic note at Eshkol National Park, where reflection gave way to a celebration of life, community and hope for brighter days ahead. Families and guests enjoyed an adventure sports zone, KKL-JNF's interactive activities and exhibitions, a regional market, authentic Israeli food experiences, and a lively central stage featuring a DJ and performances by Tippex and Daniel Weiss, alongside the official Maccabiah competitions.
One of the most touching moments was a special children's run in memory of Master Sergeant (Res.) Daniel Alush, who fell during the Swords of Iron War - a powerful reminder that even in the face of pain, loss, and challenges, the determination to keep moving forward continues to unite our global Maccabi family, More Than Ever.
