MWU honored Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini for his support of Israel

Maccabi World Union proudly took part in a special ceremony held earlier this month in Rome, recognizing Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini for his unwavering support of Israel and the global Jewish community.
MWU Chairman Amir Peled and Deputy CEO & Head of Education Rabbi Carlos Tapiero joined partner organizations — including the Unione delle Associazioni Italia-Israele (UAII), the Milton Friedman Institute, Alleanza per Israele, Geocrazia, and Israel’s Security Forum — for the official presentation of the 2025 Italia-Israele Award. The award honored Salvini’s leadership in fighting antisemitism, upholding democratic values, and defending Israel’s right to exist.
Chairman Amir Peled presented the award alongside fellow leaders, while Rabbi Tapiero delivered moving words about the moral courage required to speak out against hatred in all its forms — from Holocaust denial to modern-day anti-Zionism.
