Maccabi Challenge Program
Run by Maccabi Great Britain, the Maccabi Challenge Program provides young people with special needs with the opportunity to take part in many Maccabi events, including a specially designed 10-day tour of Israel.
The 10-day immersive Israel/Jewish identity experience for youth with physical and developmental disabilities is a unique opportunity for these youth to visit Israel. The tour not only takes them to sites of Jewish and historic interest, but in keeping with the Maccabi spirit, encourages them to challenge their bodies and minds, engaging them in all types of sports activities, including extreme sports such as rock-climbing. These sports-challenges not only instill participants with a sense of pride, but leave them with a stronger sense of self and greater confidence in their own abilities.
Other Maccabi Challenge activities include The Maccabiah’s Para-Olympics and Special Olympics, and an extensive range of informal education projects, social events for all age groups and ongoing sports programs. Every year, we organize a catalogue of international events and competitions and send groups of Maccabi Challenge participants to take part in sporting events in Israel and across the world.
