For over 50 years, Maccabi Australia has been uniting Jewish communities all over the country through sport. With literally thousands of active players from each state, as well as a wide range of different sporting events and clubs, Maccabi Australia is one of the largest Jewish organizations in Australia.
Maccabi Australia was founded on values of community, Jewish identity, active lifestyle, healthy competition and friendship, and continues to enrich the lives of Australian Jews to this day. It has been associated with many esteemed events, including the Pan American Games, JCC Games, MAIGS, several Carnivals and of course, the Maccabiah. It even takes part in many extra-curricular events, such as its highly popular leadership program.
The primary objectives of Maccabi Australia are to promote the values upon which it was founded and further develop the organization into a respected national and international sporting body. As such, Maccabi Australia also boasts one of the Maccabiah’s largest delegations, and has been a proud participant since 1953.
The 18th Maccabiah will see more than 450 Australian athletes take part in approximately 20 different areas of sport, in their chance to prove the prominence of the Australian voice in international Jewish sport.
